Music is so special to me because it’s always been a positive constant throughout my life. It’s a great outlet for all of my mental stuff and it’s also one of the primary ways I connect with people. I enjoy music in two ways: I listen to it or I play it.
I love listening to music while going on walks, driving, chilling in my bedroom, and especially going to live shows. I listen to a lot of music while going on walks because I’m never really in my room. I usually put on a playlist or a random album I saved from two months ago. When I go on long drives, I queue songs that I know most of the lyrics to so I can scream my lungs out. I also listen to a lot of music when I’m at work because I’m allowed to take over the aux and play whatever I like. It’s especially fun when I’m closing up shop because I get to just dance and sing crazily by my lonesome. Whenever I’ve got some money and extra time, I fucking love going to live shows to listen to music. Some of my favorite artists that I’ve seen live include Lamp, Mustard Service, Glass Beach, Mom Jeans, Daniel Caesar and Field Medic. I haven’t been to any local shows in a while, but when I did, I had so much fun.
I love listening to music almost as much as I like playing it. Over the last five years I’ve picked up guitar, piano, ukulele, and the omnichord (ADVENTURE TIME RAHH). Playing music is super therapeutic for me and allows me to decompress all the stress from my head to my fingers and ends up coming out of the amp. Not only does it help me relieve stress, it also helps me make friends and even strengthens those bonds! I love jamming out with my musically-inclined buds and whenever we’re all in sync in rhythm, it makes me tingle all over with joy. I’M IN GODDAMN CATHARSIS!!!
